2 Heads

From where I’m sitting at our kitchen table, I can see a little woodpecker with a scarlet head flitting from tree to tree, pausing long enough to test out one trunk and then another. I couldn’t tell you what he’s looking for, but whatever it is, he’s moving faster than the tiny chipmunk crawling around in our flowerbed.

I don’t know why, but the animals seem to be particularly active this Sunday. I think more hummingbirds have sipped from our feeder in the past three or so hours than I’ve seen in a week.

I’m not a huge nature person. Now, that’s not to say I don’t like it: if it wasn’t so damn hot or so damn cold (depending on the season) outside, if there weren’t insects and SPIDERS, then I would adore it. Oh, and nettles. I hate nettles.

I’ve been listening to 2 Heads by Coleman Hell on repeat for the past couple hours (with a few X Ambassadors songs tossed in for good measure). It’s not exactly what I normally listen to, but it’s become one of those songs where a few lines just stick out to me.

There must be something in the water
And there must be something about your daughter
She said our love ain’t nothing but a monster
Our love ain’t nothing but a monster
With 2 Heads

I turn to you, you’re all I see
Our love’s a monster with 2 Heads and one heartbeat
I turn to you, you’re all I see
Our love’s a monster with 2 Heads and one heartbeat
We just got caught up in the moment
Why don’t you call me in the morning instead
Before we turn into a monster
Before we turn into a monster with 2 Heads

I hope to god I’ll love you harder
I hope to god I’ll love you longer
If only I could live forever
If only I could hold you longer

I dunno, I just really like this song. Though I’ve listened to it so much the past little while… I might not like it as much soon.

(Please ignore how fucked up the video is. I swear the song is pretty good.)
